To all ESRs out there, thank you for participating in our annual survey!

As usual we got some great information from your responses to our annual ESR survey.  So here is a snapshot of what you said!

The New Act

78% of ESRs knew that new Work Health and Safety legislation was on its was in January 2013. There are some significant changes with the new legislation and to help you understand them we have attached some material form Safe Work Australia.

Workplace Reporting

Only 63% of respondent said that incidents/ near misses and hazards were being reported.  Workplaces that don’t ensure and encourage reporting are running a risky business.  Just because the managers don’t know doesn’t mean the workplace is safe.  Not reporting gives a false message about health and safety and ultimately puts workers at risk. ESRs can play a very active role in encouraging and supporting workers to report hazardous situations.

Workers Compensation

Only 79% of respondents reported that workers compensation forms were readily available in the workplace.  It is a legal requirement for workplace to make available Workers Compensation forms.
